Day
44 to End – August 16th to August 22nd – Inch Arran RV Park to Quebec City KOA to Glen Rouge to Barrie To Home
As this will be our final blog posting for this trip I decided to
consolidate the last few days as they are made up of primarily travel.
Day 44 – Aug 16th
We woke up this morning to partially sunny skies! Of course we were
packing up to leave.
Off to Quebec City we are bound. Very uneventful trip, we stopped at the
Quebec Tourism Office to get some information in preparation for next summers
wandering. We made good time and arrived
at the Quebec City KOA around 2 PM.
Unfortunately, could not connect to their Wi-Fi (maybe my computer can’t
speak French?). However, I did find the
prices here a little steep $67.00 per night for 50 Amp. I think they might be pricing themselves out
of a market but who knows.
We went out to St. Hubert Rotisserie Chicken, Mmmmmm excellent,
especially the dessert.
Day 45 – Aug 17th
Up early as we had a long day ahead of us. We drove from Quebec City to Glen Rouge
Campground on the east side of Toronto.
It is a gorgeous little Toronto operated campground along the Rouge
River. Very large old trees and very
large grassy lots. The only downside is
no sewage but they do have a dump station.
We made good time and arrived about 4:30 PM.
Of course it was time for dinner and we decided to meet friends Hazel
and Terry at the Black Dog Pub for a cold one and dinner. Then back to their house for coffee and dessert. It was great seeing them again and dessert
and coffee was excellent!
Day 46 to 50 – Aug 18th
to 22nd
We spent the last few days visiting family in southern Ontario including
my son and family in Barrie. We
concluded our Barrie visit with a dinner celebrating my son’s 40th
birthday. Boy, that went fast!!
On our last day in Barrie we did the guy thing and went out for popcorn
and a movie. My son, grandson and I went
to see “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.
It was not my choice, but it was an “OK” movie. I have not been to a movie theatre in a
couple of years, the chairs now recline, and the movies are in digital format
so the picture is extremely clear and crisp.
The only downside of my experience was the volume level, it was very
loud, but I was fortunate that I could turn down my hearing aids – done!
We arrived home on Friday, August 22nd, and after over 11,100
kilometres I guess we can call this trip completed.
In summary, I believe we saw the heart of Newfoundland. We got off the beaten path to the small towns
and villages. By no means did we see
everything that we wanted to see, but what we missed we can do the next time J.
Thanks for reading this blog, I hope you enjoyed the account of our
adventures and my musings.
