Day 10 – July 13th – Badger, NL to Twillingate, NL

Day 10 – July 13th – Catamaran Campground near Badger, NL to Payton Woods RV Park in Twillingate, NL

We had a relatively short drive today.  The roads were good except for the last 25 kms into Twillingate.  Same as five years ago, watch out for those potholes!  The truck has a lane departure warning system, which was beeping a lot as I tried to miss the potholes.

On our way to Twillingate we stopped at the Beothuk Interpretive Centre in Boyd's Cove to learn about the Beothuk native people who once lived in this area, more information can be found: http://www.heritage.nf.ca/aboriginal/beothuk.html. It was very informative and yes, we took another walk, this time only about 3 km (a breeze on any normal day but still a little stiff/sore from yesterday's hike). :(

Great news, Joan and Vance caught up with us today.  The truck repairs they had done obviously worked well.  Yippee!!
Just as it started to split.

After setting up the four of us went for a walk down to the beach and on to a large hill to get a great view of three Icebergs that were up close. You can see many icebergs but their shape and colours are never boring.  Very majestic!!

There are now 2 pieces!
While we were on top of the hill one of the icebergs decided to calf about 1/3rd of itself.  There was a cracking sound – not too loud and then some rorring about and then there was two!  We waited to see if there was any more action and walked back to the campground.

Just lookin' for my watch :)
On the way back we found this gentlemen either trying to get in or out of this garbage can on someone’s front lawn – very cute idea for a lawn ornament.  No, we did not stop to help. :)

We ended the day with fish and chips and an Iceberg Beer from Quidi Vidi Brewery J at a local restaurant, very nice.
