Days 1 to 3

Day 1 – July 4th – SSM to Barrie (Toronto North/Cookstown KOA)
Day 2 – July 5th – Barrie to Montreal (Montreal South KOA)
Day 3 – July 6th – Montreal to Edmundston, NB (Riverside RV Park)

Day 1 – July 4th – We finally got on the road following a two day delay, as they say the best laid plans…..  We delivered some furniture to my son and then went to our grandsons 10 year old birthday party.  It was at Round’s Ranch which is south-west of Elmvale (which is north –west of Barrie)  A good time had by all and Diane had her first (and probably last) experience with an electric fence to keep the horses in the corral.  A real arm numbing experience!!

Day 2 – July 5th - We left Cookstown KOA and drove to meet our friends Vance and Joan in Montreal, excellent driving weather and it was an uneventful trip, which is always good.  I am pleased to report that Diane’s arm was back to normal (no more numbness or tingling) by the time we got to the Montreal South KOA.  Nice Park, we would recommend it.  We met up with Vance and Joan and joined them and Joan’s brother and girlfriend for dinner at “Chateau Landmark.” Let the NL 2014 Adventure Begin!!

Day 3 – July 6th – We left Montreal South KOA for Edmundston, NB, refuelled a couple of times and watched the Diesel fuel prices climb - $1.40.9 per litre and the last fill up – I guess we better get used to it.  Joan and Vance are working on winning the Singing Pickle Award – will explain later….  Have heard there was a chance that much of Fredericton was without power due to Hurricane Arthur.  Will ensure we fill up first thing tomorrow.  Our drive from Montreal was uneventful with just a couple of rain showers.

After arriving at the park we met a wonderful couple from Spaniard's Bay near St. John's, NL.  We talked to them about our trip and they gave us some excellent recommendations for places (yes, you guessed it) to eat!  And of course they invited us to visit them at their home if we got up that way, a great way to start the trip :-).

  1. Sounds like you are of to a great start. Happy to hear that Diane's arm is feeling better after the encounter with the electric fence. If I am not mistaken, Doug Collins parents were from Spaniard's Bay. Looking forward to following your adventure.
